Fly-Overs
I almost never get a good picture of it tho.
I took about 5...this is the only one with jets in the picture!
Saturday was 9/11 and First Responder Day....
It was a night game.
Remember that...it will be important later.
(married a year this month)
Below are the newlyweds... my daughter and her husband.
(married just over a month)
If she doesn't approve of this photo, it will be different later today...
Yes, we take a lot of pictures... all subject to approval.
Even tho the picture looks the same.
However, I didn't cheat by showing you an old shot....
look in the middle and you can see the red/white and blue Aggie emblem done for the Day.
if you click on it to make it larger and then click again...
for even larger...
you can see my daughter's in-laws...
(below the ie...in the lower deck)
(thought you'd want to look)
Well...... DIL and I went to the concession stand at the beginning of the 2nd half.
I.... not her.... just me.... (she wandered off to speak to a friend)....
found out that bats don't just do a "fly-over" like those jets...
they drop stuff on you....
For one thing I was afraid to look UP for that long.
And the bats dropping stuff on me were not in the sky...
they were in the rafters of the stadium .... outside the seating area.
It appears (after much research online by yours truly..) that they are migrating to Mexico for the winter.
However, some of them often "meet someone" and decide to stay and set up "housekeeping" at Kyle Field. I've seen them there before (been going to Kyle Field since the early 70's....yes, I was quite young then)..... but I've never seen them in this quantity.
I wasn't going to blog about this. But it just "came out".

Beeswax, birds and buttons...
Then that day was spent wrapping prizes to be mailed to the giveaway winners
from last week!
Congratulations, winners!
I mailed them on Tuesday between Tropical Storm Hermine downpours!
So I'm finally enjoying some time to regroup in the art room.
Last week I noticed the above piece that I started over a year ago and never finished.
Well, I'm still struggling with it.
I added some beeswax to it..
which doesn't show in the photograph.
This morning I glued that red button
on the front and some creme ones on top.
Still needs something...
So I tied some lace on the side...
Then I found some green trim that I forgot to put in my embroidery package to Margaret..
so I laid that on top....not sure....
So... then I decided to photograph my buttons that were sitting there all sweet and sorted.
Back in the 80's we made button bracelets that were sewn on crocheted metallic elastic!
My mother crocheted the bases and BFF Virginia and I sewed our buttons on!
We wore these!
(at least I did)
Now some of them adorn my button jars.
Below is one in black and white on my red button jar.
I often snip a button off to use!
...and I've been working on
my little house stitchery
that I ordered from
Charlotte Lyons!
BFFVirginia and I both ordered from her
without telling the other one.
We do that a lot.
(Pam Garrison rubber stamps.... remember??!!!!)
Which reminds me I was going to do a giveaway

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
(photos taken outside just now between rain showers)
It's Friday!
End of a 5 day giveaway!
Today is a batch of goodies ....
a vintage postcard with vintage buttons, a rubber stamp,
a Christmas tag, an embroidered button, a spruced up pad with a rosette,
some lace I dyed yesterday and
some other lace.... and a deck of cards!
The deck of cards was produced in late 2008.
It is one of three decks the Christian Paper Artists Yahoo Group
has done in the last 8 years or so.
It's quite a production ... I'm in charge of it.... and I don't know
that we will repeat it.
The deck I'm giving away is based on Proverbs.
Each card has a different collage on it featuring a scripture.
You can play with these as they do show the card suits and numbers.
They were professionally printed and I will tell you before you
all write and inquire.... yes, it is extremely expensive.
You need a group to do it and it is good to have one or two people
that are willing to order a large quantity that they can sell.
Remember to be sure and leave me a way to reach you!
Kathleen, I can't reach you.... you can email me please... my address is at the top.
I would like to contact you even if you don't win!
I laid some cards out for you to see,
but the deck you receive will be new and unopened.
If you just got here...
you can still leave a comment on any day and be eligible for that day's winnings!
Monday has all the details.
I will draw the winners on Sunday
as I'll be away Saturday!
Happy Labor Day to all in the USA!

500!
Amazing!!!!
No, not giving away any stitching today....
you'll have to get to the very bottom to find today's giveaway.
I wanted to show you a peek...
I'm in two sampler swaps right now.
This one is just a small group of 5 women from around the world.
Anyway..... last night I realized I needed to dye some lace I wanted to use on this.
I did stitch the girl.... to be revealed later!
You will LOVE this sampler!
It belongs to Carole in New Zealand...
it's to die for...
yesterday's post has a link to her latest class.
Oh, the advantages to being a morning coffee drinker!
Every morning of my life I have a coffee dye available like clockwork!
(yes, it's one word... I looked it up)
I happened to notice this morning....
because you know when you dye one thing,
you look around to see what else you can plunge into that vat....
one of the birds was all a twitter.
must've plunged him into the coffee -
therefore, explaining his
underwing issues!
Okay....here's today's giveaway....
just a few simple things I made...
First is a simple blank book you can paste stuff in... it's theme is circles/dots...
And remember the bird postcard I made recently
and talked about titling it with a name from your
local phonebook?
You get him, too!
I made a wire hanger for him....
and I brushed some hot beeswax on him...
now there's something else
that you find yourself looking around the room
to see
what else could use a good coating!
See you tomorrrrrrrrrrow!

Back to School Giveaway!
We gotta go back to School!
Even if you don't go to school.....
you are going to want this composition book covered in Pam Garrison paper!
And it has darling felted acorns hanging by a cord from it!
And there are 4 more loose acorns that go with it.
BFF Virginia made it last night for me to give away!
And....
my friend Carole opened registration for her latest class today....
Be sure and check it out!
Remember to leave a comment on this post for the drawing Sunday if you want to win today's "giveaway"! If you are a follower, leave a second comment with the word follower in it, and if you blog about the giveaway at all this week, leave another comment with that statement in there....that's the only way I can keep up with it! Good luck!
Happy September Y'all!
